Hooker, OKDr. Virgil E. “Mac” McWilliams, Jr. 84, died April 30, 2015 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS He was born April 9, 1931 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, the son of Virgil E. and Viola (Shorter) McWilliams.He graduated from Fairfax Oklahoma High School in 1944, he then went to Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, OK and graduated in 1954 with a degree in Geology. He later went to Oklahoma State University and graduated 1974 with a degree in Animal Science and a Doctorate in Veterinarian Medicine.He worked for Conoco as a geologist before going into Veterinarian Medicine and was a Veterinarian practicing in Ardmore and Hooker, Oklahoma.He enjoyed reading, traveling and fishing. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association).He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1962 where he served over seas a lot of that time. On March 3, 1992, he married Margaret A. (Peters) Black in Liberal, Kansas. She survives.Other survivors include3 Daughters Rebecca Sivard and husband Bobby Garland, TX Katrina S. Miller and husband Scott Sharon Springs, KS Julie Persinger and husband Mike Hugoton, KS1 Sister Carolyn Ruff Perkins, OK10 Grandchildren: Mallory Sivard; Heather (Weaver) Gerstberger; Haley (Adkinson) Ohs; James Persinger and wife Nataly; Mitchell Persinger; Mark Persinger; Jeff Persinger; Heath Knuth, Kendalynn Miller and KyLynn Miller.5 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, Son, Michael K. Black, Sister, Billie Wilson.Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2015 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Liberal with Pastor Jack Jacob presiding. Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery. Visitation time will be 5 - 8 pm Saturday and 1 - 5 pm Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 3 – 5 pm Sunday at Brenneman Funeral Home.Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Gary Sunise Foundation for Disabled Vets in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
