Tommy E. Maupin, age 80, died Feb. 23, 2012 at his residence in Liberal, KS. He was born Jan. 11, 1932 in Hutchinson, KS, the son of George D. and Margaret (Fillbeck) Maupin. He attended Hugoton High School in Hugoton, KS. He was a truck driver for Schlumberger, R.C. Williams and Ideal Foods. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, since 1960, serving as Sunday school teacher and director. He was the Union Steward for Teamsters Union #795 for 15½ years. He enjoyed construction work and built his own home, just as his grandfather did in Stafford, KS. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954, during the Korean Conflict.On Oct. 28, 1955, he married Margie Byer in Raton, NM. They were divorced.Other survivors include1 Son Gregory Maupin Blue Springs, MO1 Daughter Linda Sistrunk and husband Harvey Liberal, KS 5 Grandchildren Brian Maupin, Jenifer Maupin, Stephen Green, Jeffery Green and Kristina Landis and 4 Great Grandchildren Jeremy Green, Addison Landis, Garret Landis, Jr. and Ellie Landis. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Daughter Julie Maupin, 4 Brothers Bob Maupin, Harold Maupin, Douglas Maupin, Vernon Maupin, and 1 Sister Reva Hadsell. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Liberal with The Reverend Canon Charles Schneider presiding. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-5 pm Sunday, Feb. 26, at Brenneman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in care of the Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
