Thelma Rose Trimmell 98, died, Thursday, September 5, 2013 at her residence in Liberal. She was born October 19, 1914, in Seward County on the family homestead, the daughter of Elmer Ellisworth and Elta Rose (Sheldon) Howell. She was a lifelong resident of Liberal and was a 1933 graduate of Liberal High School. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and also a special aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and Deacon. She also was a Sunday School Teacher and member of the Presbyterian Women’s Association, serving as president and circle leader. A life member of PTA and a Girl Scout Leader, she enjoyed family, gardening, sewing, reading, and collecting antiques. On September 16, 1934, she married Eugene Dale Trimmell in Liberal, KS. They celebrated 68 years together before he died January 4, 2002. Together they owned and operated T's Antiques until 1999. Survivors include: Son Bobby Judson Trimmell, DVM, and wife, Gail, Purcell,OK; Daughter Jill Janet Pittman Liberal, KS; Six Grandchildren: Boyd J. Trimmell (wife Sharon), Brita J. Trimmell, Blaine J. Trimmell (wife Michelle), Tanya Pittman Navarrette( husband Mike),M.D., Brad Pittman, M.D., Kendra Pittman Irwin, Phd (husband Robert) .Three step grandchildren she loved dearly, JoAnn James (husband Mark),Cindy Lester, Darrell Tyler (wife Mary)Five Great Grandchildren: Patrick Theriot, Lucas Navarrette, McKenzie Navarrette, Tristan Navarrette and Calista Irwin and many nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by her parents, 7 Brothers and Sisters and 6 Half-Brothers and Sisters and Son-In-Law. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church with Amy Thompson presiding. Burial will be held at Liberal Cemetery. Calling time will be from 9am to 8pm Friday, September 13, 2013 at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel. The casket will remain closed.
