Terry L. Swafford

Terry Lynn Swafford, 61, died August 5, 2011 at Mayo Clinic St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. She was born June 8, 1950 in Dodge City, KS, the daughter of Virgil Samuel and Ima Gene (Winsor) Mayfield.She graduated from Dodge City High School in 1968. She attended St. Mary’s of the Plains and in 1970, she received an Associate’s Degree from Kansas State University. She worked as a secretary for the USD 480 School District at Liberal High School for 28 years. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed shopping, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.On August 1, 1970, she married Craig Alan Swafford at Dodge City, KS. He survives.Other survivors include:1 Son: Todd Swafford and fiancée Karin Good of Dodge City, KS; 1 Daughter: Jaime Norton and husband Chad of Liberal, KS. 2 Sisters: Janet Billings and husband Carl of Liberal, KS; Tammie Simon and husband Steve of Dodge City, KS. 2 Grandchildren: Brittany and Bradley Norton. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Larry Mayfield and a sister: Wanda Morris.Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, Aug. 12th, at the First Southern Baptist Church with Reverend David Hoffman presiding. Graveside service will be 10:00 am Saturday at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, KS. Visitation will be 1 – 8 pm Wednesday and 9 am – 8 pm Thursday with the family present to receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Thursday at Brenneman Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
