Shirley "S.G." Gene Hinz

Shirley Gene “S. G.” Hinz, 85, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at his residence in Liberal, KS.He was born May 1, 1927 at Corn, OK to Alvin H. and Elizabeth (Franzen) Hinz.He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U. S. Army from Oct. 17, 1950 – Oct. 22, 1952.He was a farmer and truck driver. He lived in Liberal and the Oklahoma panhandle all his life.On February 15, 1958, he married Carolyn Curran at Clayton, NM. She survives.Other survivors include2 Sons – Timothy Hinz and wife Paulette of Wyoming;Kenneth Hinz and wife Carrie of Wyoming;2 Daughters – Katherine Goodrich and husband Robert of Colorado;Tammy Krajnyak of Arizona;4 Brothers – Alvis Hinz of Texas;Richard Hinz of Kansas;Calvin Hinz of Kansas;and Grover “Guy” Hinz of Texas;2 Sisters – Marlene McGee of Missouri;Carol S. Henning of Oklahoma; and10 GrandchildrenHe was preceded in death by his parents, Brother-Sherman Hinz and Sister-Geraldine White.A private family graveside service will be held at Turpin Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Turpin, OK. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Tabernacle in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
