Roxie Louise (Eaton) Kent, 68 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 23 2017.
Roxie was born on June 30th 1948 at Konawa Oklahoma to Walter and Elwana (Armbrister) Eaton.
She lived in in Ada, OK until the age of 9 when her father passed away from Marfan Syndrome, the same disorder Roxie had. Roxie’s mother then moved the family to the Texas Panhandle, settling in Spearman, TX.
She attended Spearman High School. On January 10, 1965 at the age of 16, Roxie married Philip Ray Kent. He died March 6, 1987.
Ray and Roxie moved to Liberal in 1967, to start a family. Roxie worked at the Good Samaritan Society for a short time as a nurse’s aide, before committing to being a fulltime homemaker raising two sons, Taylor and Bill. During this time, she did daycare in her home, loving each of the children as her own. Among those she took care of were Terrance Volden and Krista (Volden) Holcomb, little James Armstrong, and Mylie and Miah Janko. From the time when Krista was just a baby, they developed a grandmother and granddaughter relationship.
She was a member of Grant St. Church of Christ.
Roxie is survived by her two sons, Taylor Kent and wife Jodi of Liberal, Bill Kent of Fishers Indiana; 5 Granddaughters, Kayla, Keli, and Bryli Kent, Brianna Blackwell and Krista (Volden) Holcomb; one Great granddaughter Zoey Romero; one brother Robert Eaton and wife Sandra of Spearman TX; one sister, Francis Ward of Mission, TX; many nieces and nephews.
Roxie was preceded in death by her Parents Walter and Elwana Eaton, Husband Ray Kent, and two brothers Roger and Tex Wayne Eaton.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Grant St. Church of Christ, with Dennis Francis, presiding.
Visitation will be 9 to 8 pm, Friday, May 26 at Brenneman Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.
