Rita Mae Shogren (Tuttle), 55, passed away on December 10, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Leona Tuttle, of Gove, KS. She is survived by her husband, Mark Shogren of Satanta, KS; and daughters Tiffany Shogren of Olathe, KS; Jessica and husband Aaron Freeman of Lawrenceville, GA. Siblings: Gwen Kramer and husband David of Meridan, KS; Lorsey Thompson and husband Earl of Olathe, KS; Rose Packard and husband Charles of Grainfield, KS; Sandra Lonas and husband Ralph of Moneta, VA; Jon Tuttle and wife Debra of Scott City, KS; Von Tuttle and wife Cristy of Gove, KS; Lana Durkee of Lenexa, KS; Leon Tuttle and wife Donna of Gove, KS and 21 nieces and nephews and 24 great nieces and great nephews.Rita married Mark Shogren on Jan. 10, 1981 in Gove, KS at the United Methodist Church. During their 33 years of marriage, they resided in Salina, Solomon, Plains, and Satanta, KS. Rita was born in Quinter, KS on Feb. 26, 1959. She attended Gove Grade School, Wheatland High School, Fort Hays State University (BS in Elementary Education), Kansas State University (MS in Elementary Ed with Library Science Endorsement), and Kansas State University (ESL Endorsement). She worked as an educator and coach in the Solomon, Satanta and Liberal school districts. Rita was also a volleyball official and scorebook keeper for both basketball and volleyball.Rita was actively involved in several professional organizations and held many offices and/or sat on the boards of many of these organizations. These include the Kansas Reading Association, Kansas Association of School Librarians, Kansas National Education Association, Kansas State Reading Circle, and Parent Teacher Organizations. She was also a member of the First Nazarene Church of Sublette.Cremation has taken place.Memorial Service will be held at the Southern Baptist Church, 901 West Lark Ave., Sublette, KS on Saturday Dec. 13, 2014 at 2 pm. With Pastor Shane Lester, presiding. Family will greet friends at the Church on Friday, Dec. 12 from 5-7 pm.
