Merlin Lee Jantzen, 91, died Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
He was born on April 24, 1928 in Liberal, the son of Dan L. and Ida (Deckert) Jantzen.
He graduated from Kismet High School. On August 8, 1948, he married Barbara Smith in Kismet. She survives.
Merlin was a farmer, a carpenter, and a heavy equipment operator for Panhandle Eastern.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows, a Boy Scout Leader for many years, a member of the city council of Kismet, a member of Kismet Baptist Church, and a coin collector. He loved fishing and bowling.

Seven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by parents and 6 siblings.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 24, 2020 from 3pm to 7pm at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, KS 67901.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 1pm at Restlawn Cemetery with Pastor Rex Petty Presiding.
