Mary Anna Dunn, 80, died Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City, KS.She was born March 27, 1932 in Blencoe, Iowa to William and Edith (Peterson) Erlandson. She graduated high school at Blencoe, Iowa and then studied at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE.On May 19, 1956, she married Howard A. Dunn in Onawa, Iowa. He survives.She was an elementary school teacher. She taught at McKinley Elementary in Liberal, KS during the late 1950’s. She and her husband had resided in Iowa, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and at Omaha, Nebraska before retiring and moving to The Ponderosa near Turpin, OK in 1995. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #80 of Liberal and a former 25 year member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was an active volunteer at the Liberal Air Museum. While living in Omaha, she volunteered at nursing homes and assisted with transportation for residents. Having had a daughter that was afflicted Mucolipidosis, a form of Huler’s disease, Mary Anna an advocate for education for children with disabilities.She was instrumental in naming the Quality Living, Inc., a housing program in Omaha.She was preceded in death by one Brother, George Erlandson who died in childhood and her Daughter, Lu Ann Dunn 1959-1990.She is survived by her husband, Howard of The Ponderosa, rural Turpin, OK and many nieces and nephews.Funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, Oct. 16th at Richfield Methodist Church in Richfield, KS with Pastor Sandy Ferguson presiding. Burial will follow at Richfield Cemetery.Visitation will be 1 – 8 pm Monday at Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal with the family present to greet friends from 6 – 7 pm.Memorial contributions should be made to a local charity of donor’s choice in her memory in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
