Mary Amanda Betz, 90 died, Thursday, January 09, 2014 at Southwest Medical Center.She was born November 26, 1923 in Ness City, KS the daughter of Harry and Sabina (Burdett) Hawkins. She was raised in Ness City and graduated from Ness City High School. She has been a resident of Liberal for the past 47 years. She was a homemaker. On July 14, 1941 she married Merle Betz in Ashland, KS. He died Aug 29, 2004.Other survivors include:2 Sons Mike Betz Wichita, KS Duart Betz and wife Patricia Hutchinson, KS 2 Daughters Ann Bell and husband Patrick Liberal, KS Tonda Heckle and husband C.C. Turpin, Ok3 Brothers Van Hawkins Silver Lake, KS Jack Hawkins Silver Lake, KS Bill Hawkins Washington2 Sisters Sue Gramling Paragould, Ark. Beth Stoecklein Olathe, KS9 Grandchildren April Coker, Aaron Betz, Becky Betz, Jason Betz, Julie Hanner, Patrice Betz, Justin Bell, Cody Bell and Sabina Heckle. 15 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.She was preceded in death by Parents, 2 Sons Gary and Scott Betz, 1 Brother Jerry Hawkins,1 Sister Dee Guhr and 2 grandchildren Claresa and Melody Betz. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City, Kansas. Burial will be held in the Ness City, Cemetery.Visitation time will be 9am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5pm all at Brenneman Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 to 6:30 pm on Saturday.Visitation time will also be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City, KS at 1:00 pm Monday.In lieu of Flowers and plants memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
