Marvin L. “Odie” Odneal 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle died Sunday, March 20, 2011. He was born September 7, 1933, in Prairie Home, Missouri the son of Martin and Robna Frances (Byler) Odneal. He graduated from Prairie Home High School in Prairie Home, Missouri. He worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma and Kansas for 37 years, before retiring as manager of administrative services in Kansas City, MO. A member of Elks Lodge since 1976, he served in many offices and as Exalted Ruler in 1981-1982. He was a member of First Christian Church, Liberal. Odie enjoyed working in the yard and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. On September 26, 1953, he married Eula Mae Ellison in Prairie Home, Missouri. She survives.Other survivors include:1 Son David Odneal and wife Mindy, Minneapolis, MN; 2 Daughters Dianna Van Auken and husband Dennis, Colorado Springs, CO; Donna Odneal, Liberal, KS.6 Grandchildren Chrissy Topliss and husband Duane, Shawna Odneal, James Gokey, Angela Craft and husband Ryan, Jessica Gokey, Jason Voltattorni.4 Great-Grandchildren Joshua Odneal, Brooke Topliss, Jordan Craft, Austin Topliss. 1 Brother Martin Odneal, Jr and wife Joan, Gilbertville, IA; 1 Sister Clara Belle Zey, Prairie Home, MO; 2 Sisters-in-law Norma Schilb, Prairie Home, MO; Sue Ellison, Finley, OH; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Sam Odneal, half brothers Robert Woodhouse and Dan Odneal, half sister Grace Lea Odneal, brother-in-law Lindon Ellison, sister-in-law Mayme Ellison, brothers-in-law Eldon Ellison, Wilbur Schilb and Donald Zey. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 24th, at First Christian Church with Rev. Terry Ford presiding. Burial will be held at Liberal Cemetery.Visitation time will be held 1:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 pm at Brenneman Funeral Home.
