Margaret Ann Ortega, age 61, died Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas. She was born June 19, 1958, in La Junta, Colorado, the daughter of Tony and Marjorie Medina.
Margaret married her husband, Gilberto Ortega, in June of 1990. He survives her.
Margaret worked for National Beef. She enjoyed fishing, going to watch softball games, and dancing every second she could. She was very outgoing, and the most important thing to her was her family. Spending time with them meant everything to her.
She was the beloved mother of Ricky Medina of La Cross, Kansas, Santiago Olivas and Maribell Garcia of Cleveland, Tennessee, Jose Olivas and Kat Gamble of Liberal, Kansas, and Mague Teresa Olivas and Pedro Amancio also of Liberal, Kansas.
Margaret was the proud Grandmother of Orlondo Torrez, Elijah Olivas, and Aubrey Olivas.
She is survived by her parents, her brothers, Richard Medina of Oneonta, Alabama, John Medina of La Junta, Colorado; her sisters, Lucy Madrid of La Junta, Colorado, Merlinda Critchfield of Las Animas, Colorado, Irene Smith of Valley City, Nevada, and Phyliss Medina of Denver, Colorado.
Visitation will Monday, June 22, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Brenneman Hornung Funeral Home. A Rosery will take place Monday at 7:15 p.m. at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal, Kansas. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. also at the St. Anthony Catholic Church. Cremation to follow services. Masks are required to be worn at both the Rosery and Funeral Mass.
