Lillian Holifield, 89, died Friday, February 26, 2016 at St. Catharine Hospital in Garden City, KS. She was born May 5, 1926 in Lyman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Homer and Dolly (Davis) Luna. She graduated High School in 1945 in Goodman, Missouri from the Goodman School System. After graduation, she went to business college in Missouri. She was a member of the New Beginnings Church, formerly Assembly of God. Her hobby was people. She was always looking to help or encourage someone. She spent a lot of time with friends doing different activities. She loved visiting friends at Good Samaritan Center in Liberal. She was very active in her church and helped wherever she was needed. On June 8,, 1947, she married Leroy Armstrong in Fredonia, KS. He died September 6, 1984 of ALS.Then in May of 1990, she married Boyd Holifield in Liberal, KS . He died March 30, 2008.She is survived by two Sons, Clifford “Cliff” Armstrong of Liberal, KS and Robert “Bob” Armstrong of Liberal, KS 1 Step-Son, Larry Holifield and wife Faith of Liberal, KS3 Step-Daughters, Tawana Earnest of Garden City, KS Pat Winter and husband Marvin of Garden City, KS Marla Cannaley and husband John of Liberal, KS1 Step-Son-in-law, Jerry Griffith of Liberal, KS1 Sister, Kathy Grandby of New London, MO12 Step-Grandchildren; 29 Step-Great Grandchildren; 2 Step Great-Great GrandchildrenShe was preceded in death by her parents 5 Brothers, Frank, Roscoe, Bill, Claudie Dean, and infant baby Henry Luna, 2 Sisters, Bea Harris and Ann Bunch, Step-Daughter, Shirley Griffith and also by a Granddaughter, Allison Armstrong. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the New Beginnings Church with Pastors Richard Martin and Kevin Alexander presiding. Burial will be held at Liberal Cemetery. Visitation time will be from 9am to 8pm Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 6 – 8 pm.Memorial contributions may be sent to New Beginnings Church in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
