Juana Torrez DeVinney

Juana “Jane” Torrez DeVinney, age 88, died Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society in Liberal, Kansas.

She was born on March 8, 1934, the daughter of Silbester Torrez and Isabelle Ruiez Torrez in Hanston, Kansas.

Jane was united in marriage to Donald Ray DeVinney on March 8, 1989, in Liberal, Kansas. She served as a Catholic nun in the Dominican Order out of Great Bend for 25 years in healthcare. Jane spent her time doing volunteer work and enjoyed her time volunteering at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. She was the Meal Director at the Liberal Senior Center and worked at the Pioneer Manor and the Seward County Community College cafeteria. Jane loved spending time with her loved ones and was a very loving godmother. She will be truly missed by all the lives she has touched.

Jane is survived by her husband, Donald Ray DeVinney, two stepsons, Kelly DeVinney (Sonya) of Markel, Texas, and

Jacob DeVinney (Mehrnaz) of Pleasanton, California.

Two brothers, Frank and Don, one sister, Phyllis, and goddaughter, Leticia Sauseda of Garden City, Kansas, and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, Sylvester Torrez and Isabelle Ruiez Torrez, three brothers, Jess, Manuel and Phil and one sister, Bobbie.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2^nd Street, Liberal, Kansas 67901.

Rosary to follow at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas 67901.

Graveside Service to follow at the Liberal Cemetery in Liberal, Kansas 67901.
