John Wendell Johnson 78, died Monday August 15, 2011 at his residence in Liberal, KS.He was born March 2, 1933 in Liberal, KS the son of Joseph E. and Elsie (Arnett) Johnson.He attended school in Liberal, KS He joined the U.S. Marines and was stationed at San Diego, CA. He has been a lifetime resident of Liberal, KS.He was employed at Jayhawk Pipe Line for many years before starting Wendell Johnson Construction. He was a member of the Trinity Faith Church, Liberal Senior Center where he served as president and he was a 32nd degree mason and member of Masonic Fargo Lodge #300 AF & AM. He was active in his community by serving on several local boards and had served on the Liberal City Commission. On April 22, 1960 he married Rosalie A. Busey in Guymon, OK. She died in 1999.Survivors include. 1 Son Gregg Johnson and wife Christine Amarillo, TX1 Daughter Jeanne Moore Liberal, KS 1 Brother Kenneth Johnson Liberal, KS 1 Sister Carolyn Burchfiel Amarillo. TXSpecial Friend Lettie Ketchie Oklahoma City, OKMany Nieces and Nephews.Grandchildren Jeffrey Moore and wife Kristin, Phoenix, AZ and Courtney Johnson, Amarillo, TXPreceded in death by parents, 4 brothers Russell, Raymond, Howard and Floyd, 2 Sisters Kathryn Woods and Ila Jean Bowen Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Trinity Faith Church with Pastor Dee Estes presiding. Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery. Visitation time will be 9am to 8pm Thursday and 9 to 11 am Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home.Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Liberal Senior Center or Trinity Faith Church in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901
