John Cannaley, 63, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 at Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.
He was born August 13, 1956, in Liberal, Kansas. He is the son of Cletus and Mary Lou (Woods) Cannaley.
He graduated from Liberal High School in 1974. John married Marla Kay Holifield on September 17, 1977 in Liberal. His career was spent in the oilfield.
John enjoyed fishing, golf, refurbishing vintage furniture and making lamps. He was a devoted fan of KC Chief football, KU basketball and KC Royal baseball. His greatest pleasure were his eight cherished grandchildren.
Survivors include: His wife Marla of 42 years, his daughter Carissa and her wife Angela of Liberal, Kansas and his son Mike and his wife Charisse of Spring Hill, Kansas. He is also survived by a brother Joe Cannaley of Garden City, Kansas.
He is survived by eight grandchildren: Austin Orozco, Gaige Harp, Madyson Harp, Brittney Cannaley, Treiy Harp, Chloe Cannaley, Cadence Brock and Brayden Cannaley.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Mary Lou (Woods) Cannaley.
Visitation will be Monday, January 27, 2020, from 2-8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 28 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Rex Petty presiding. Both will be held at the Brenneman-Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 West Second Street, Liberal Kansas, 67901. Interment will take place at the Liberal Cemetery.
