Joan Ringer

Joan Long Ringer, age 85, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal Kansas.She was born February 22, 1930 the daughter of George Maxwell and Rose Aloyse (Stricklin) Long. She was a proud life long resident of Liberal, KS She graduated from Liberal High School in 1947. On February 23, 1947 she married Charles Edward Ringer at her mother’s home in Liberal, KS. He died December 12, 2008. Joan was devoted to her family and loved to cook for them. She was active in her church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and volunteering where ever she was needed. She worked for USD 480 for many years as a Teacher’s Aid. Joan was a member of the Aurora Club, DAR, Liberal Women’s Club, UMW, the First United Methodist Church, a Life Time member of the PTA and served on the OTLR Board for several years. She was active in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.Survivors include:3 Sons – Charles E. Ringer, Jr. and wife Nattamon Oak Harbor, WA. G. David Ringer and wife Kittie Dallas, TX. Robert J. Ringer Stone Mountain, GA.1 Daughter – Susan D. Koons and husband Dan Liberal, KS5 Grandchildren - Mark Ringer and Chelsea Ringer, Catherine Keep and husband Taylor, Stephen and wife Alyson Ringer and Christopher Koons.2 Great Grandchildren – Amos Keep and Silas Keep.Joan was preceded in death by her Parents, 5 Sisters, Maxine Shank, Kay Staker, Frances Schaffter, Becky Sims and Mary Rose Matkin. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, Liberal, KS with Rev. Keith Anglemyer presiding. Burial will be in the Liberal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 PM at Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 w. 2nd, Liberal, KS.Memorial Contributions may be given to the United Methodist Women in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd St., Liberal, KS 67901.
