Liberal, KSJeffrey Dale Keating, 53, died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Via Christi St. Frances Campus in Wichita.He was born July 3, 1961 at Liberal, Kansas, the son of Robert Dale and Sharen Jane (Riney) Keating.He graduated from Liberal High School in 1979. He also attended SCCC of Liberal in 1981. He was currently employed as a deputy for the Seward County Sheriff’s Department. In the past he served as Chief of Police on the Tyrone Police Department. He also worked as a Patrol Sergeant for the Liberal Police Department. He also formally worked for the Morton County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the Ashland Police Department, and the Meade Police Department.He was a member of the Seward County 4-H, the Seward County Volunteer Fire Department. The HOG (Harley Owner’s Group) and the First United Methodist Church of Liberal.He is survived by his Parents, 2 Sons-Russell Tillson of Florida, and Alberto Vazquez of Liberal. 1 Brother David Keating of Soldier, Kansas. 1 Sister Catherine J. Schlegel of Kansas City, Kansas.1 Grandchild-Avalynn Dale3 Nephews-Dakota and Mathew Keating, and Caleb Schlegel2 Great Nephews-Gage and Callen “Bobo” Bridenstine2 Nieces-Heather Jones and Amy BridenstineHe was preceded in death by his Maternal and Paternal Grandparents, Robert L. and Catherine Riney, and James B. and Wylma Keating.Funeral Service will be at 11:00am Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Liberal. With Pastors Bill Prater, Dave Randall, and Rev. Mike Keating officiating. Burial will take place at Liberal Cemetery.Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8pm and on Wednesday from 9am-8pm at Brenneman Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be given to the Seward County Community College/ATS Foundation for Criminal Justice in care of Brenneman Funeral Home-1212W. 2nd-Liberal, KS 67901
