Jeffrey Carl “Jeff” Johnson 43, died, Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at his residence in Liberal. He was born June 21, 1972 at Liberal, Kansas the son of Larry Dean and Linda LaFaun (Whiteley) Johnson. He has been a lifelong resident of Liberal. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1990 and graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree. While in high school he played on the Redskin football team #72. He was an avid football fan following the Liberal Redskins, OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. He was gifted in glass blowing, pottery and woodworking. He enjoyed landscaping, fishing and hunting. He was very committed to his work and loved his family. He was currently employed by Black Hills Energy as a Service Guard Technician and has been employed with the City of Liberal and Thompson’s Architect He is survived by: Companion – Misty Lucas Liberal, KS Parents Larry and Linda Johnson Liberal, KS Brother Stacy A. Johnson and wife Tracy Liberal, KS Niece Petty Officer 3rd Class Makyla Johnson US Navy Japan Grandfather – Roy L. Whiteley of Liberal, KS Many aunts, uncles and cousins He is preceded in death by Grandfather Lawrence Johnson, Grandmothers Lorinda Johnson and Evelyn Whiteley. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at the Trinity Faith Church with Rod Whiteley presiding. Burial will be held at Liberal Cemetery. Visitation time will be 9am to 8pm Friday with family to greet friends from 6:30 to 8pm at Brenneman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Jeff Johnson Memorial Art Scholarship for LHS Students in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, Kansas 67901. *Guests attending Jeff’s service are encouraged to dress in OU Sooner casual attire.
