Helen Jo Graves, 81, died Friday, December 18, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born August 12, 1939 in Elk City, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Kenneth Loyton and Lucille Casey Loyton.
Helen attended High School at Hoisington High School in Hoisington, Kansas. Helen married Don Graves also in Hoisington, Kansas on July 14, 1956. They were married for 50 years. Don died October 20, 2006. She was a seamstress all her life. She owned her own business called “Helen’s Alteration.” Helen has sewed since 1979 in the Liberal area. She also worked at Red Bell Cleaners. She was an avid car racing fan and loved cheering on her husband, Don, and her sons, Jim and John. She loved and was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was the beloved mother of two sons, Jim Graves, and wife, Fran Graves, of Liberal, Kansas, Randolf Graves, and wife, Anavell Graves, of Denton, Texas.
Helen was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Jeremy Graves, Katie Graves, Tabitha Graves, Travis Graves, Tony Graves, Alejandro Graves, Anahi Graves, and four great grandchildren, Jayden Graves, Takoda Graves, Tobias Graves, and Xander Graves.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don Graves, sons, David Graves and John Graves, and granddaughter, Amanda Beth Graves.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd Street, in Liberal, Kansas, from 12:00 to 6:00 pm, with the family to be present from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be Monday, December 28, 2020, also in the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, starting at 12:00 pm. A burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
