Goldie Rae Dearing, 97, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Liberal Springs in Liberal, KS.She was born March 30, 1913 in Higgins, TX, the daughter of Charles and Laura (Price) Deckman. She graduated from Bishop High School, Ellis County, OK in 1931. She was valedictorian of her class.She lived in Guymon and Straight, OK for 63 years. She has been a resident of Liberal Springs for three years. She was a cook at the grade school in Straight, OK and a homemaker.On November 21, 1932, she married Sylva B. Dearing at Arnett, OK. He died January 18, 1993.She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Guymon, OK and Mary Martha CWF group. She volunteered with the Texas County Fair Arts Department and worked at the canteen at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County, OK.She was a musician and an accomplished artist. She took pleasure in crocheting and all kinds of needlework. She liked watching baseball games, especially the New York Yankees.She and Sylva enjoyed many camping trips to Eagle Nest, New Mexico, Colorado and Zapata, Texas.She is survived byfour Sons: Kenneth Dearing and fiancé Beverly Crow, Claremore, OK; Max Dearing and wife Arlene, Kimberling City, MO; Norman Deckman and wife Lois, Douglas, OK; Gary Dearing and wife Carol, Liberal, KS.Nine Grandchildren: Debra Cheatham, Misti Smith, Mary Lynn Costner, Kelly Sawyer, Jeff Deckman, Mike Deckman, Matt Deckman, Lance Dearing and Wendy Dearing; Seventeen Great-Grandchildren and five Great-Great-Grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson David Dearing, daughter-in-law Patricia Ann Dearing, and brothers and sisters. Graveside Service will be at 10:30 am Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Elmhurst Cemetery, Guymon, OK.Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Guymon, OK with Rev. Terry Ford presiding. Visitation will be 9 am to 4 pm Friday, January 28, 2011 at Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal, KS and 7 to 9 pm Friday, January 28, 2011 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Fellowship Hall in Guymon, OK with the family present to greet friends from 7 to 9 pm.In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or Loaves and Fishes in Guymon, OK in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd., Liberal, KS 67901.
