Gerald Hugh Hoover, age 88, died Friday, October 23, 2015 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.He was born Feb, 6, 1927 in Tyrone, OK, the son of Joseph Clayton Hoover and Hattie Elsie Coats..He was a 1945 graduate of Eureka High School Baker, OK and attended OSU, Stillwater, OK majoring in Business and accountingGerald was employed by Mullin’s Furniture as the credit Manger. He was a lifelong farmer in the Tyrone area.He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberal and the Reapers Sunday School Class of the church. He was in the Army Air Corps in WW11.On March 15, 1957, he married Betty Jean Devor. She died April 2, 2009.Other survivors include:4 Sons William D. Johnson and wife Doris of Tyrone, OK.Dwight Q Johnson of Tyrone, OK,Galen Abel and wife Maria of Turpin, OK.Clayton H. Hoover and wife Teresa, Liberal, KS1 Daughter Gloria M. Hoover and companion Terry Blaser, Liberal, KS. 1 Sister Esther Mary Hoover Davis, Liberal. 8 Grandchildren, Becki Wills, Dea Kent, Christy Van Dyke, Hailey Hoover, Jasen Abel, Nathan Abel, Jared Wagenseller, and Jamie Cook.18 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, Oct. 27th at the First Baptist Church, Liberal, KS with Pastor Jason Ramsey presiding. Burial will be in the Tyrone Cemetery, Tyrone, OKVisitation time will be 2 to 5 pm Sunday and 9am to 8pm Monday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
