Gareth Drew Poer

Gareth Drew Poer, age 79, died December 29, 2014 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, KS. He was born November 6, 1935 in Hoisington, KS, the son of Elmer and Sylvia (Henry) Poer. He graduated from Hoisington High School in 1954. He graduated from Ft. Hays State College, in Hays, KS, on January 26, 1968 with a Master’s Degree in Education Administration.He was a school principal in the Morland KS School District. He was and Insurance Agent for Farmland Insurance Company and worked as a Salesman for Deal Lumber Company.He was a member of Millbrook Masonic Lodge #281 at Hill City, KS and Isis Shriners Temple in Salina, KS.On June 29, 1958 he married Lois Margarite Brown at Prairie view, KS. She survives.Survivors include2 sons Mark Poer and wife Traci Ingalls, KS Kevin Poer and wife Mary Lou Princeton, ID2 Daughters Jamie Gooch and husband Kyle Hugoton, KS LuAnn Nelson and husband Jim Liberal, KS 1 Brother Dennis Poer and wife Lori Castle rock, CO1 Sister Sharon Poer Montgomery, TX 6 Grandchildren Wyatt Poer, Ty Poer, Megan Gooch Rohrer, Rebecca Gooch Hodgson, Morgan Nelson and Brooke Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents.Cremation has taken place and there will be no public viewing. A private family Inurnment will be at a later date in Prairie View, KS.Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Catherine’s Hospice in care of the Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
