Evelyn Joan Mitchell, age 88, of Liberal, Kansas died Thursday, November 8, 2018, at the South West Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born May 26, 1930 in Durant, Oklahoma, the daughter of Turner Owen and Clara Bell (Davis) McEntire. She Graduated from Durant High School in 1948.
Joan and E. Dean Mitchell were married in Liberal, Kansas on March 14, 1964. They were married for 54 years.
She was the Green House Manager and Bookkeeper at Mitchell’s Garden Center she owned with her husband. Joan was also a bookkeeper at the Rathburn and Nevins Medical Office and Assistant Administrator at the Southwest Medical Center when it first opened
She was an avid gardener, Loved sewing and crafting. Joan was an accomplished Gourd artist. She traveled for 10 to 15 years doing art’s and craft shows in New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas Oklahoma and Texas, she was very proud of her gourd art. Joann loved her Cats, they brought her so much joy.
She had an often-used quote “You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone” and the family agrees that they will deeply miss her.
She was a member of the Elks Club and the American Gourd Association.

Her husband Dean Mitchell of Liberal, Kansas.

David Lynn Mitchell of Liberal, Kansas.
Daughters;
Judy Ann Gill and her husband Fred of Amarillo, Texas.
Jamie Lou Mitchell of Billings, Missouri.
Grandchildren; Melody Dawn Canady, Tryston Matthew Ellis, Dylan Jacob Ellis.
Great Grandchildren; Thomas Douglas and Wyatt Gage Canady.
Great Niece: La Nayska & Scot Fairchild. Great Great Nieces and Nephews Corianne & Scott Rushell Fairchild: Riley Dean Fairchild; Magen Nicole Fairchild and Michael Charles Fairchild.
Joan was preceded in death by Her Parents and her sister, Wyoma Lou Lilley formerly of Mead, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be Friday November 9, 2018, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Funeral Services Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM, at the Brenneman Family Chapel, with Pastor Randy Mitchell presiding. Interment will follow at the Restlawn Cemetery.
