Elda Eileen Campbell, age 89, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas.

She was born on June 24, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William Thomas and Celia (Matheny) Martin. Elda graduated from Logan High School in 1952 from Logan, Ohio. She was the loving mother of three sons, Shane, Jeffery, and Kevin and four daughters, Lynda, Cyndi, Theresa, and Kelley. Elda was united in marriage to John Edward Campbell on February 13, 1981, in Hugoton, Kansas. He proceeded her in death on September 15, 2015.

Elda dedicated many years to her career as a nurse’s aide, providing care for those in need at Logan Memorial Hospital and Ulysses Nursing Home. Elda worked for Panhandle Eastern for many years where she retired from. Elda and Eddie enjoyed traveling, arrowhead hunting, bingo and going to the casinos. Elda loved spoiling her grandchildren.

Elda is survived by her two sons, Shane Michael Adams of Delaware, Ohio,

Jeffrey Lynn Adams and his wife, Josie of Andover, Kansas,

Three daughters, Lynda Kay Hinnergardt and husband, Jay of Liberal, Kansas,

Cyndi Lou Mankin and her husband, Jack of Columbus, Ohio,

Kelley D’lea Romme and her husband, Larry of Liberal, Kansas,

18 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Brother, Robert Martin of Logan, Ohio.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Campbell,

Daughter, Theresa Lynne,

Grandson, James Towner,

Granddaughter, Erika Lynne Walsh,

Sister, Gail Margret Shepherd,

father, William Martin, 

mother, Celia Lightfoot, 

stepfather, Benton Lightfoot, and

Grandparents.

 

A graveside service will be at a later date in February 2025 in Hugoton Cemetery.
