Ednetta (Nettie) Springer Gilmore Brown Crotts died, Friday, September 9th, 2016 at Wheatridge Park Care Center. She was born May 26th, 1918 in Hoisington, KS to Frank and Marie Klas Springer. She married Lawrence Crotts, December 22nd, 1958 in Hebron, NE, he preceded her in death on May 23rd, 1993. Nettie moved to Olmitz, KS, at the age of 5, at age 15 she moved to Great Bend, KS, to work as a housekeeper & at age 17 she joined her parents in Ottawa KS. She worked at Hercules Powder Plant in DeSoto, KS, during WWII and then she worked for A.L. Duckwalls for nine years in Great Bend, Pratt & Liberal, KS. She was a member of the Catholic Church and a foster parent for 16 years. Nettie enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, gardening & she loved to fish.
She leaves behind 1 son, Frank Bethas, Wichita, KS; 1 daughter-in-law, Marlene Petz Gilmore, Mesa, AS; 1-stepson, Richard Crotts & wife Joyce, of New Guinea, 1-stepdaughter Janice Crotts Sargent of Miami, FL; her grandchildren, Randy Gilmore & wife Ginny, Darin Gilmore & wife Linda, all of Liberal, KS, Scott Gilmore & wife Jennifer of Lawrence, KS, Tammie Katzenmeier & husband Travis, of Mesa, AZ; step-grandchildren, Richard Crotts & wife Darla, of Richmond, VA, Julia Huffman & husband Michael, of Mineral, VA, Alice Foster & husband Steve, of Chesterfield, VA, and Ayla & Jack Sargent of Miami, FL; her foster children, Wyona Blake & husband Russell, St. George, UT, Ricky Deardorf, of Liberal, KS, Dora Kyser & husband Bret, of Bartlesville, OK, Betty Ortega, of Lamar, CO and Francis Ortega Holden, of St. Rosa, NM; She also leaves behind 18 great grandchildren & 17 great-great grandchildren & many step-great, step-great-great & foster grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Springer; mother Marie Hain & stepfather, Joseph Hain Sr; one sister, Felicitas Springer Hermes; 3 half-brothers, Harry, Joseph & Martin Hain; her son, Jimmie Dean Gilmore; her grandsons, David Gilmore & Todd Gilmore; her great-grandson Chad Woods; & her step-grandson, Jason Crotts.
Memorial Service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, September 24th, 2016 at the Brenneman Funeral Home with Fr. Jim Dieker officiating.
