Dieu Thi Truong

Dieu Thi Truong, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at her residence in Liberal, Kansas. 

She was born in 1947, the daughter of Hung Van Truong and Tu Thi Dang. She lived a life filled with love, resilience, and compassion.
 
Dieu's journey in education spanned over 20 years, as a 1st Grade elementary teacher in Vietnam. Upon relocating to the United States in 1992, she transitioned to a career in packaging at National Beef for another 20 years before retiring. In her retirement years, Dieu devoted herself to caring for her cherished family, and keeping her home clean and tidy. Sewing was a hobby she enjoyed very much.
 
One of Dieu's greatest accomplishments was her enduring love story with her husband, Sanh Tran. They met in 1961 and shared a deep bond that led them to exchange vows in 1969 in Vietnam. Throughout the challenging years from 1975 to 1981 when her husband was a prisoner of war, Dieu stood strong as the pillar of her family, raising and nurturing their four children with unwavering dedication.
 
In the hearts of those who knew her, Dieu Thi Truong will forever be cherished for her kindness, strength, and selfless devotion to her family. May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the love she shared.

She is survived by husband, Sanh Tran,

Two sons, Thanh Tran, of Boston, Massachusetts and

Nam Tran and his wife, JoLynn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Two daughters, Thuy Tran and her husband Dat Vo of Liberal, Kansas and

Dieu Tran and her husband, Hung of Pennsylvania,

ten Grandchildren and

six Great Grandchildren

Dieu was preceded in death by her parents, Hung Van Truong and Tu Thi Dang.

Visitation will be 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 4, 2024, Buddhist prayers will be throughout the day at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2^nd Street, Liberal, Kansas. 

A final send-off chant will be at 2:00 PM followed by the procession to the witness cremation.
