David John Prewett, 64, passed away unexpectedly at his Houston, Texas home on February 12, 2013 following a short illness. David was born July 19, 1948 in McPherson, Kansas to John and Jean (Lansing) Prewett. He attended Liberal, Kansas schools from 2nd grade through high school graduation in 1966. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the First Christian Church of Liberal and Order of DeMolay. Following a tour of duty with the Army that included a year in Viet Nam, he attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with highest honors with the degree of Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. Throughout his life he worked as a Professional Engineer specializing in waste water treatment plants and equipment.David is survived by his sons David Matthew Prewett of Austin, Texas and Douglas Prewett and wife Meghan of Raleigh, North Carolina along with his first expected granddaughter, sister Donna Bagshaw and husband Ray of Littleton, Colorado, 1 niece, 3 nephews, numerous cousins and a multitude of wonderful friends who will love and cherish him forever.Funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, February 22, 2013 at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ located at 920 N. Jordan, Liberal, KS. Burial will follow in the Liberal Cemetery next to his mother. Military Honors will be given by Ft. Riley Honor Guard.Visitation will be from 5 – 8 pm Thursday with the family present to receive friends from 7 – 8 pm at Brenneman Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers and plants, contributions may be given to the David J.
