Cipriano Ortiz Soto

Cipriano Ortiz Soto, age 71, died Monday, March 13, 2023, at his residence in Turpin, Oklahoma.

He was born on October 26, 1951, in Chihuahua, Mexico the son of Rito Ortiz Chavez and Juana Soto Chavez.

Cipriano was united in marriage to Tina Romero on March 8, 1983, in Perryton, Texas. He was the father of four sons, Balente, Juan, Agustine, and Nicolas, and one daughter, Maria. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator in feedyards.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Romero; three sons, Balente Ortiz (Getana) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Juan Ortiz (Clara) of Turpin, Oklahoma; Nicolas Ortiz of Turpin, Oklahoma;

one daughter, Maria Ortiz;

three brothers, Elias Ortiz, Fidencio Ortiz, and Rito Ortiz;

one sister, Belen Ramirez; and

nine grandchildren, Tristen Ortiz, Aileen Ortiz, Angelica Melendez, Azael Ortiz, Aryssa Ortiz, Araceli Mendoza, Amairany Ortiz, Jenna Ortiz, and Martin Ortiz.

He is preceded in death by both parents, Rito Ortiz Chavez and Juana Soto Chavez;

Son, Agustine Ortiz;

Sisters, Antonia Melendez, and Lidia Ruiz;

Brothers, Simon Ortiz and Humberto Ortiz.

Visitation will be on 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2^nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Vigil Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 17, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.  Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Augustine Owusu. 

Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2^nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
