Agustin Gallegos Velazquez

Agustin Gallegos Velazquez, age 57, died Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the University Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

He was born on August 23, 1967, to Amador Gallegos Garcia and Cirila Velazquez in Tierra Blanca, Guanajuato, Mexico. 

Agustin was united in marriage to Maria Garcia on April 14, 1986, in Mexico. He was a devoted father to three sons, and two daughters and a grandfather of seven grandchildren with one more on the way. 

He was very hard working. Agustin started to work at a young age on fields picking cotton in Mexico he did many jobs there but then migrated to California to work on fields in 1986. He became a permanent resident of the USA in 1988. Worked in the fields until he decided to take a turn and move up to where he had heard of beef packing plants having lots of jobs he decided to make his way up and started working in National Beef Packing in 1999 to 2015 where he became a supervisor. He started his own small business of selling Carnitas and then he became very well known by lots of people here in Liberal Ks and surrounding towns that would come to buy Carnitas from him that went on from 2015 until he became ill about 2 years ago. Agustin was the most caring person and he leaves a big empty space in the Gallegos Family.

He was super caring and always willing to help anyone! Agustin leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and an indelible mark on the lives he touched. 

He is survived by his 

Wife, Maria Gallegos of Liberal,

Sons, Hugo Gallegos and his wife, Veronica of Liberal,

Uriel Gallegos and his wife Guillermina of Liberal, and 

Agustin Gallegos of Liberal,

Daughters, Marlen Gallegos of Liberal, and

Margarita Rubi Gallegos of Liberal, 

Seven grandchildren,

Zuhary Gallegos,

Irvin Ibarra Jr.,

Hugo Jr. Gallegos,

Adrian Gallegos,

Hailey Ibarra,

Nick Gallegos,

Emiliano Gallegos, and

A granddaughter on the way,

One brother, Alberto Gallegos,

Three sisters, Barbara Gallegos,

Esperanza Gallegos, and 

Teresa Gallegos.

He is preceded in death by 

his parents, Amador and Cirila Gallegos,

brother, Benito Gallegos,

sisters, Guillermina Gallegos, and

Florencia Gallegos.

Visitation will be 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.  

Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 28, 2024, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun Avenue, Liberal, Kansas with Reverend Agustine Owusu celebrating.

A burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.

Agustín Gallegos Velázquez, de 57 años de edad, falleció el sábado 21 de septiembre de 2024 en el Hospital Universitario de Denver, Colorado.

Nació el 23 de agosto de 1967, hijo de Amador Gallegos García y Cirila Velázquez en Tierra Blanca, Guanajuato, México. 

Agustín se unió en matrimonio con María García el 14 de abril de 1986, en México. Fue un padre devoto a tres hijos, y dos hijas y un abuelo de siete nietos con uno más en camino. 

Era muy trabajador. Agustin empezo a trabajar a una edad joven en campos recogiendo algodon en Mexico hizo muchos trabajos alli pero luego emigro a California para trabajar en campos en 1986. Se convirtió en residente permanente de EE.UU. en 1988. Trabajó en los campos hasta que decidió tomar un giro y pasar a donde había oído hablar de las plantas de envasado de carne de vacuno que tienen muchos puestos de trabajo que decidió hacer su camino y comenzó a trabajar en National Beef Packing en 1999 a 2015, donde se convirtió en un supervisor. Empezó su propio pequeño negocio de venta de Carnitas y luego se hizo muy conocido por mucha gente aquí en Liberal Ks y pueblos de los alrededores que vendrían a comprar Carnitas de él que pasó de 2015 hasta que se enfermó hace unos 2 años. Agustín era la persona más cariñosa y deja un gran espacio vacío en la familia Gallegos.

¡Era súper cariñoso y siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar a cualquiera! Agustín deja un legado de trabajo duro, amor y una marca indeleble en las vidas que tocó.

Le sobreviven Esposa, Maria Gallegos de Liberal, Hijos, Hugo Gallegos y su esposa, Veronica de Liberal, Uriel Gallegos y su esposa Guillermina de Liberal, y Agustin Gallegos de Liberal, Hijas, Marlen Gallegos de Liberal, y Margarita Rubi Gallegos de Liberal, 

Siete nietos, Zuhary Gallegos, Irvin Ibarra Jr, Hugo Gallegos Jr, Adrian Gallegos, Hailey Ibarra, Nick Gallegos, Emiliano Gallegos, y Una nieta en camino, Un hermano, Alberto Gallegos, Tres hermanas, Bárbara Gallegos, Esperanza Gallegos, y Teresa Gallegos.

Le preceden en la muerte sus padres, Amador y Cirila Gallegos, hermano, Benito Gallegos, hermanas, Guillermina Gallegos, y Florencia Gallegos.

Visitación será 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM, viernes, 27 de septiembre 2024, en el Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas. 

Rosario a seguir a las 7:00 PM, Viernes, 27 de septiembre 2024, en el Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Misa Funebre será a las 10:00 AM, Sábado, 28 de septiembre 2024, San Antonio de Padua Iglesia Católica, 1510 N. Calhoun Avenue, Liberal, Kansas ofciada por el Reverendo Agustine Owusu.

 Entierro seguirá en Restlawn Cemetery.
