Bertha “Bert” Smith, 96, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at her residence in Liberal.She was born April 16, 1916 in El Paso, Texas the daughter of Alexander David and Adela McLean.She lived in El Paso, TX, Sun Lakes, AZ and Austin, TX before moving to Liberal to be with her daughter.On Oct. 4, 1947, she married Eugene P. Smith in El Paso, TX. He died in May 19, 1953.Survivors include:Son - David Smith and wife Jan of Austin, TX;Daughter - Shirley Scott and husband Don of Liberal, KS;3 Grandchildren - Martha Scott, Wichita, KS; Michael Scott, Liberal, KS; Alex Smith, Los Angeles, CA. 2 Great-Grandchildren - Maxwell Smith and Holly SmithStep-son – Gerald Smith of Anthony, TXStep-daughter - Mary Gail Abbott of Albuquerque, NMShe was preceded in death by a sister Nettie Harms, 2 brothers William and Alex McLean, a granddaughter, Kristen Smith and a step-son, Glenn SmithMemorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, Feb. 14th at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with Fr. Charles Schneider presiding.
